The next episode of the popular animated series “The Lion King” will be set after the events of the first film, according to a casting announcement posted online by the production company.
The announcement states that the new film will be the story of the “reunification of the kingdom of Narnia,” where King Reeds and his kingdom of the Wicked are at war.
The cast will include new characters, including Lion King’s original “Reeds,” and new songs from The Lion King musical.
The news comes after a tumultuous year for Disney’s animated empire.
The company’s stock price has plunged as Disney has struggled to find ways to bring the series back from the dead.
Disney also announced plans to build a new theme park in the UK, but the project has since been scrapped amid the ongoing financial crisis.
The show has been a major source of revenue for Disney for decades.
Disney has also faced criticism from some of its most loyal fans for continuing to feature characters like Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs in its films.
Some critics have said that the character designs and costumes of the characters have become too familiar.
